do any of you know the key to get the asus netbook to boot from cd

Hi, if any of you use the asus netbooks, do you know the key to get it to boot from a USB or other CD? I want to try ubuntu, and need to boot from a USB drive. The manual says to press escape at boot, but that doesn't work. It still goes right into windows.
