Yes it is. I upgraded a hardy install yesterday, to find I was unable to log into the desktop. I am going to do another upgrade again today to see if anything has changed. I'd advise waiting a while, and try upgrading again from the command-line, as you likely won't be able to get into the desktop to do so.
