accessible login

update.
I've managed to get the accessible login working.  I do have one issue: when typing in my password, I hear the letters I am typing.  For example, if I type "bob" into the password field, I hear "b star o star b star."  Does anybody know what is causeing this?  Is it an orca thing, or an ubuntu thing, or just a random something else?
