I, for one, is still using Windows only for that particular purpose. I
have to admit that I wasn't aware of the existence of programs such as
OCRAD and GOCR. However, I was quick to download them and try them. They
will do in an emergency, but they don't compare with my favourite, ABBYY
Finereader. I did notice that ABBYY Finereader offers some kind of a
solution for Linux - not free, of course - but I haven't had time to look
into it yet.
Of more interest is OCROPUS, which I have downloaded but not installed
yet. Have a look at
http://code.google.com/p/ocropus
When I've found a satisfactory solution to the OCR problem, I'm definitely
going to say goodbye to Windows.
