wireless networks

Hi, I plugged in a wireless card and see that ubuntu sees it. My question is how do I add my network to it. 
What utility do I have to install. I looked at the network settings by going to the root account, but I didn't see anything that showed my network. 
Is there a utility that works with orca even from the terminal that will list the networks seen.
