sudo and accessibility

Hi George and all,
Okay, assuming I've applied all the patches correctly, and I believe I have,
then something appears to be seriously broken.
GDM starts, and prompts me to login; However after I do so, the desktop
never comes up.
I'm really not sure how to offer any more relevant info at this point, but
would be happy to troubleshoot further if anyone can offer suggestions as
to how.
