Indeed it is possible to configure the network from the console. The
file you want to modify is /etc/network/interfaces. The interfaces man
pages should give you the syntax for the file. To configure wireless
options, you will want to look at the wireless man page to get the
appropriate lines for /etc/network/interfaces.
