[u-a-dev] at-spi at gdmlogin - broken or disabled on purpose?

Hello,

I have been told by the gnome maintainer of gdm, that when the plain
greeter (in other words gdmlogin) is used, at-spi (to be precise:
/usr/lib/at-spi/at-spi-registryd) should be automatically started in
the gdm session. (It should be started even if Assistive Technology
is not enabled)

But it does not start automatically on my machine; it also does not
start on another persons machine.

However, when I define a gesture, to start
/usr/lib/at-spi/at-spi-registryd, it does start and afterwards I can
use applications requiring at-spi during the login session.

So my question: Is this a bug specific to Ubuntu (at least in gutsy),
or has it been changed on purpose in the Ubuntu distribution.

If the former is the case, I am going to file a bug against gdm in Ubuntu.

Thanks in advance.

Francesco
