In reply to comment #17:

First of all, thanks for taking this bug thread into account.

This is indeed a request for a SRU. I deleted the ...ubuntu4 attachments
and the debdiff of this bug and replaced them with new files where the
target is precise-proposed in the debian/changelog.

The first entry of this bug has been updated by trying to follow the
guidlines indicated for an SRU.

The patch is derived from changes that went into 0.97.1. As there is a big delta between 0.97.0 and 0.97.1, we were asked to "cherry-pick" the fix for the translations file bug in message #20 of the SRU we submitted to get 0.97.1 into precise:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+source/onboard/+bug/999111

The fix of the bug is in 0.97.1 that is available in quantal. In fact,
the fix tries to catch bugs in the translation files that make Onboard
crash; by fixing the translation files in the language packs the Onboard
crash would be fixed too; but the purpose of the changes in Onboard is
to make it immune against such errors in the translation files.

Please, do not hesitate to ask, if you need additional pieces of
information.

Thanks for reviewing this SRU bug thread.

** Description changed:

- According to the discussion concerning an SRU for precise about
- upgrading Onboard from version 0.97.0 to version 0.97.1, marmuta derived
- a patch from version 0.97.1 to have it added to version 0.97.0, so that
- Onboard does not crash anymore when it uses po files containing errors.
+ Hi,

- So, I downloaded the current Onboard version from the main repository of
- Ubuntu precise, applied the patch and packaged for precise.
+ Here is an update for a SRU for Onboard shipping currently with precise that addresses the bugs that have been filed against Onboard 0.97.0 because of crashes of Onboard due to errors in the translation files:
+ https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1013279

- Thanks in advance for reviewing and taking the update into account.
+ The patch proposed here has been derived from Onboard 0.97.1 after it turned out, that 0.97.1 is not a good candidate for an SRU because of the huge difference to version 0.97.0. You might have a look at comment 18, 19 and 20 of the following bug thread:
+
+ Onboard 0.97.1, which the patch has been derived from, is in Ubuntu
+ Quantal and there has not been any new bug filed because of crashes due
+ to errors in language files until now.
+
+ If the language packs have not been updated meanwhile, the fix can be tested by using the Czech localisation:
+ - without patch: Onboard crashes because of the error in the cs localisation file
+ - with the path: the error in the cs localisation file is catched by the code in Onboard that does not crash anymore
+
+ The direct impact of problems in Onboard should not be very widespread, as apart the ubuntu-* metapackages, there is no other package depending on it:
+ $ apt-cache rdepends onboard
+ onboard
+ Reverse Depends:
+ onboard:i386
+ onboard:i386
+ xubuntu-desktop
+ ubuntu-sugar-remix
+ ubuntu-desktop
+ $
+
+ If you need any additional pieces of information, please do not hesitate
+ to ask for it.
+
+ Thanks in advance for taking this SRU into account.
+
+ Cheers,
+
+ Francesco
