Hi, thanks for your bug report.
Do I understand you right: Onboard doesn't immediately start when you log in? It only shows up, when you untick and tick System Settings->Universal Access->Typing->Typing Assistent?
Did this happen only once, or does it repeat on every login?
The second issue is probably due to gksu in one of your launchers. IIRC,
gksu has been deprecated in ubuntu in favor of pkexec. I'd recommend
that you update the desktop file you are attempting to launch and
replace gksu with pkexec.
The alternative is to turn off the black screen with
$ gconftool-2 -s /apps/gksu/disable-grab -t bool true
This was a rather common thing to do back in the time, but I can't recommend it, as this opens up a security hole.
