it's often useful to get people talking starting with topics that are
less likely to be contraversial or involve emotions.

The idea of cross-pollination of boards was an interesting proposal
that might fall into this category:

There is an update from Michael Hall that was given yesterday, but I
was hopefuly that it might be something that a personal on the
techboard might be able to talk about with passion/enthusiasm/
first-hand information---even if it is just to confirm that it's an
idea and has/hasn't been tried out if the circumstances have not
called for it.
