There is a merge waiting on RT deployment to fix the basic issue of a
localised start pages returning non-localised results:

(Test: searching Italian for 'casa' ('house') and getting English results:)

This is less of a straight bug/distro issue, ... the various factors I
understand being:

  1. "Google.com doesn't work on Ubuntu"/unfamiliar page reaction vs.
  3. Revenue maximisation, taking into account:
    a. Adwords income @ $x vs.
    b. client=ubuntu channel @ $y + conditions (eg. FF Chrome usage) vs.
    c. missed/lost revenue from annoyed users then changing their homepage

This is more complex and so needs to be taken forward by those _with
first-hand experience_ of whatever contract terms/restrictions/commercial
obligations are involved.

Covered this out-of-band with Rick and again briefly with Rick + Mark at
UDS---suggestion of testing during maverick to locate $some sweet spot (or
at least get hard data) and reviewing recommendations made by third-parties.

Caveat emptor, I don't work at Canonical.
