need drivers

hello sir,
thank u very mych for ubuntu.
its really awesome n goodlooking.
i had installed it on my Hp dv6000 laptop/notebook.
actually i'm unaware of ubuntu this is my first hand on trying it.
so please kindly help me whether i should install drivers n if so tell
me where can i get those drivers to download n to install.
And please help me in some maintanance tips n tricks to use ubuntu.
can u also tell me where can i get the applications that support
ubuntu platform for additional uses of mine.
