Anything netword related is mostly too complicated for my small brain. All I know is that there is some magic thing called "DHCP", that allow internet access to work all by magic without even having to type a password or anything, nor configure or install any software. I think I heard, that my cable modem can do this magic trick because it has a built-in router, which talks to the ISP and authenticates me and gives me an IP address. It probably mostly technical non-sense, but it's about as far as my understanding goes I am afraid ! ;-/ Network stuff is so complex to me, it always makes me run away. I have deep respect for those who master the subject. So if I understand well, I do have a router, the one that's built inside my cable modem. So maybe it has more features than meets the eye, and maybe it has a firewall ? If it does, at least it's not documented so I don't know how to proceed to access the router. I guess maybe using a special IP address that it would recognize, and then it would serve me web pages as a user interface ?
