Kernel Update?

I noticed that a kernel update came down the pipe, after doing an
install I've noticed something.

My system seems snappier than usual, faster and more responsive.
Scrolling through Gmail isn't laggy, and even Youtube videos have
started to play a bit more smoothly. Did that code for working with
threads better in the kernel get added in the latest update?

Something was done because I'm seeing a marked improvement in how my
system performs, and I've made no other changes other than applying
the updates.
