I think that in a way answers your question: why would a person invent
a religion that is bad for him? Because it feels good. Because, even
if you screw up here on earth, you'll be taken care of in the promised
land.

Personally, I'm cool with being dead forever, (not that I want to die
anytime soon) mainly because I'm tired and could use a good rest.
