Reboot,
Reinstall the Latest Mainline Kernel from
  http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/

Works for me in at least 50% of cases. Much of the problem I have is
that Ubuntu is shipping kernels that are older than my hardware.
