Paris-based Mandriva had been hovering on the brink of bankruptcy for
some time. This apparent return to health was enabled only by a
combination of drastic restructuring and cost-cutting at Mandriva (read:
staff cuts), as well as an "ambitious industrial plan with the aim of
relaunching the company."
