I think there are many reasons companies, individuals, and governments
choose Linux and open source software. Efficiency is only one reason. In
the case of an already Microsoft trained workforce and a primarily
Microsoft-centric culture, efficiency isn't necessarily even a main
reason for them to choose Linux.

However, security, price, and stability (all points where Linux beats
Windows) are compelling reasons for the switch. I think we have to look
past single points alone and see the bigger picture here.

Also, consider that more users also means more programmers which can
(and probably will) translate into more eyes analyzing the code AND more
people contributing. You can bet Russian language support will go WAY up
too very quickly.

So yeah, I think this is going to be a good thing for Linux. It might
not be an 'ideal' situation for some in the community, but it's a good
thing overall.
