I agree with you and I would go a step farther. Sounder is a discussion
group and I don't see how it can operate if no thread can be followed at
all to it's more or less ultimate end. I don't post all that often
because I often think that if I give my opinion it is likely to lead to
an off topic discussion. This might mean that we should post anything
that is cause and effect related because it is nearly never directly
related. What is the point in a conversation that leads no place. It's
obvious at some point someone needs to stop a discussion when it ceases
to have any relationship to the subjects we should be talking about.
The context of a post seems to me to be if taken only in the context of
the thread hatrdly off topic unless the thread itself is off topic.
For me one of the things that makes Sound an interesting group is that
the discussions do lead to sometimes obscure but related topics.
Sometimes unrelated!! If all threads stop at the edge of the box I would
find it frustrating. Moderators are called that because they are
supposed to do just that and should not wipe out every conversation that
goes a little astray. I think moderation on this list is very well
handled. Doug
