If you want a hint to where I think Microsoft is headed, just take a
look at Ubuntu and Mac OS X.  Open up the Windows Powershell for a
preview.

I think the two main problems with Vista was the OEM installed copy with
all the extra customized crap and software after all updates installed,
it used 3 times as much disk space as Ubuntu and the interface uses so
much resources you have to turn it off to get decent performance (not
unlike Ubuntu).  Other than that, it's not much different than 7.
