Bingo!  That is the exact reason for the current list configuration,
I'm sure.  

Has anyone noticed that the folks having problems with this are almost
all using Thunderbird?  Thunderbird is obviously broken.  Claws mail,
OTOH, works the way it should and I suggest that everybody switch to
this wonderful and /NOT/ broken client immediately!

OK, OK, maybe asking the Thunderbird crew to add this correct
functionality would do as well.

But it /is/ Thunderbird and not the list that is broken.
