Because they are essentially a year old.  The current Intrepid software was 
synced from Debian "sid" last October/November.  Some development went on 
before it was released in April, but don't count on any major upstream 
developments making it.

If you want more recent software than that, you don't want to be using the 
standard repositories of _any_ Debian-based distro.
