Are you asking that for the sake of arguing? You did not even give any 
points as to why we should not shove new users into ubuntu-users or #ubuntu.

What is the problem with shoving a new USER into the technical support 
list? Why do you think it is called 'ubuntu-users'?

I subscribe to the ubuntu-users list because I do need technical support 
on the desktop side of things for Ubuntu where Google does not turn up 
some 'hints and tips'. A system administrator may not necessarily be 
knowledgeable or familiar with desktop stuff or even code just as a 
programmer may not know anything about how to tune a system or to dig 
out a bottleneck or even setup the desktop.
