You misunderstood. It's not a questions of actively folding URLs, or a
question of whether you agree with the RFC.
It's simply that many mail readers implement the RFC such that long
lines are folded, period. And as a consequence, clicking the a long
folded URL ceases to work.
If you want to make sure that your URL is clickable on every mail
reader, you need to make sure it is not above 78 chars.
