Given the date on the above comment (Feb. 21) and the Hardy Release
Schedule https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardyReleaseSchedule that should have
read "alpha 5"
Good news though; I note that:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly
show that the versions in Hardy are now equal to the latest stable
versions listed on the Gstreamer News page linked in the first post.
