innotek (makers of VirtualBox) to be bought by Sun

Sun's Solaris/OpenSolaris is pretty much direct competition for Linux
(consider Nexenta (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nexenta_OS) which is
Ubuntu Solaris rather than Ubuntu Linux :), but they're keeping it
friendly, playing nice with the GPL, etc.  (Unlike Microsoft, they
actually are competing based on merit O:)
