Older releases were _really_ dark brown. Newer (Edgy/Feisty) were much
lighter, more "tangerine" (but not quite).
Personally I like it. I have 4 Ubuntu systems in front of me and they
all have the standard theme.
I don't see what all the fuss is about. It's not like it's hard to
change the theme/background.
