Curious; I note that Java doesn't appear as an explicit
dependency/recommendation/suggestion
e.g. http://packages.ubuntu.com/miro or the PCF 1.0 version
...and yet it does use it (as per the crash ref I listed)

I'm not too familiar with the details of the squashfs compression
used; how close would it be?  Is there a way to increase compression
at the expense of processing time?  Could some of the Windows FOSS be
pared down to make room for it?
