As far as I understand F/LOSS & FLOSS both sound/look bad to some Asian
people.  Many Asians have a (what we Western people would call
superstitious) belief that the name you give to something or someone
influences the good or bad luck it will get.

(Maybe the habit of some people in the West to name their children after
very successful people like popular sport, music and movie stars is a
similar "superstition" though.)
