gmail problem - test message

The reason they don't show up in your email client is because they don't
show up on the Gmail end either (at least they didn't 4 months ago).

Normally when someone sends an email to you on your Gmail account and
you respond to them (from within Gmail - not your MUA) and they reply
back, you'll see all three messages grouped in a "conversation".  If
that person were on a maililng list and it was the list address you
responded to, you would not see your messages in the "conversation".
And in fact, you'd not see your messages in any thread you started on
the list.

This drove me absolutly nuts. At the time I was trying to use Gmail's
web client exclusively for email.  I've since switched hosting providers
and now have one that provides IMAP email, so I no longer use Gmail for
mailing lists.
