Haskell stuff.

How does one go about becoming a maintainer of packages? I'd like to
see a GHC 6.6 for Ubuntu (backported to Dapper) as well as a Gtk2Hs
package for Ubuntu (again backported to Dapper) and I figure the best
way to do this would be to become a package maintainer. Where is the
guru who benevolently guides newcomers to package maintenance? (And is
there already a maintainer for Haskell stuff that could be spoken to?)
