Firstly, and I address this to everybody in this thread, and apologise if I am 
guilty of it too, can we please dial down the rhetoric in this thread again. 
There is no need to get either brusque or rude or irritated. We are after all 
discussing smooth DVD playback, not middle east peace. It should not be an 
issue to not get aggravated by this.

Now, I'm pretty sure I did not read what you are saying. What Michael said was 
that some users do view this functionality as critical (this is 
indisputable), he did not tell anybody they need anything, he simply stated 
the obvious. It does however seem strange to tell people that any piece of 
functionality is not critical for them. Everybody uses their computers 
differently, and with different goals in mind, because make no mistake, a 
computer is a tool, and must fit the user, not the other way around. Ditto 
for the OS.
