Ha! I ran a PC with Windows on it for 6 years before I bought a new one
(also with Windows).
The "reliable 3-year cycles" are mostly thing of the past if you ask me.
Processors have advanced to a point they have more power than most
people need and you almost never see a new PC these days with less than
512 MB of RAM and an 80 GB hard drive.
Then there are people like me who always buy for the future so that my
overkill PC will be "average" 3 years from now.
