As a complete Linux newbie, can I support Peter on this. I have learned a lot about Linux by simply browsing around the file system and trying to get an idea of what things are where and why. I can see no advantage in hiding things - and a lot of advantage in protecting people like me from inadvertantly making mistakes by the sudo methodology.

And no, GroupWise does not allow bottom posting.

And no, I can't do anything about that disclaimer.

Why are people so keen on hiding things? One of the things that I

particularly like about Linux is the very fact that things are *not*

hidden.

Is it possible that we are underestimating users, and that hiding stuff is

kind of insulting?
