Advice on CLI mail client that support mail threading

So you have for every step of the process the perfect tool and no big tool  
for everything with many bugs.

But perhaps go for Pine as Michael suggested. It's really good, used it  
for more than 10 years (but ditched it for Operas M2 (no-cli, I know).
