I did write a long reply to him privately, but I haven't had a response
back.

An other option is to write a (*shudder*) Skype-compatibility module with:

  Depends: libqt3-mt
  Provides: libqt3c102-mt

and shove this into Universe or similar.  Regarding the wiki, I've just
re-read my own page on the wiki and even that could do with simplifying---a
major part of which is solved by 'gdebi' when that goes in.  Please feel
free to improve:

Mark/Jane:  Would it be possible for somebody to try and get some
high-level contact with Skype and sort out access to engineers that can
actually deal with this problem?  If Mandriva have managed to do a tie-up
it should actually be possible even if it requires a method other than
email...

Proprietary or not, Skype is likely to be one of the first packages a new
user tries to install and it's currently a broken use-case.
