There are huge issues with this comparison.
- DOS began in what, 1980? And Linux was released in what 1991 or 92?
You'll have to wait 12 years and see where Linux is at before we make
comparisons like this.
- We also can't compare the 2 because Bill Gates is not just rich from
his OS, but from all his software too.
- If Ubuntu existed in place of Microsoft, they would be far wealthier
than Bill Gates could ever imagine. I'd bet our society would be a bit
more technologically advanced as well. Openness and sharing fosters
innovation. Proprietary and Patents do not foster innovation.
