An Ubuntu-based "Democrakey"?

| I'm willing to make such a beast if I could find the information on
| making a "Live USB Stick" from Ubuntu repositories somewhere.

Put everything from casper/* on the live cd onto an USB stick.
Install bootloader on USB stick loading /casper/vmlinuz as the kernel
and /casper/initrd.gz as the initrd.  Make sure the kernel command
line contains boot=casper and it'll just work.

(At some point during the Edgy cycle, I hope to have layered squashfs
support in which will allow easier customisation too.)
