Sure, you're right that it's discouraging - but why do you think you have
any entitlement to a response?  I filed two patches against udev the same
day, a month or so later I got a response that one of them had been
applied.  Still no word on the second.  I think devs have better things to
do than write to everybody who submits a patch - and I think a lack of
response is often a good sign, as you might get an argument if you
submitted a bad patch.
