I just look regularly what packages ubuntu-desktop tries to bring in,
and if there is anything that looks important I'll install it (or at
least go read whether it might be needed or not).

AFAIK this will be fixed at least partially for Edgy Eft (several
specifications around this problem were discussed in Paris).
