Perhaps, but what it'd be useful to use for IMHO is the mail queue/mail store 
on a very busy mail server or perhaps a news server. Of course the 4GB size 
limit is an issue, but I'm sure you could put quite a number of these in a 
striped raid config to get more space. Seek time makes a HUGE difference in 
this sort of config, and that's where the i-RAM excels. Could also be useful 
for an external journal file for another file system, which would really 
speed up recovery/replay on huge filesystems.

You'd want to copy the data off in the case of a power failure though, but 
that's not such a huge problem to deal with, as long as you're aware of it.
