q: "WTF!? I try to download and all I get is an empty click.php file
(Linux+Firefox).
"Why can't people use plain old download links anymore? They always have
to get cute and fsck with what works until it's broken."
a: "To help provide a single link that randomly chooses a mirror server
to download from. It's a ~300MB download so perhaps the owner wants to
keep bandwidth usage down once a few mirrors are set up."
Bad idea. In .au, and presumably other places, uses can often choose a
local mirror to save bandwidth for all, and themselves money.
Any notion of a automated mirror choose isd broken, unless it
understands all the Internet topology.
