I had the pleasure to write a book about Guadalinex V3 which also serves
as Ubuntu guide:

Iniciación al software libre
con Guadalinex V3

The source text is at http://guias-ubuntu.ourproject.org and has
Creative Commons license (by-nc-sa).

The editors (Edit Lin, small and specialised) have picked what they
needed to build a 302 pages printed book. It will be presented next week
at the http://www.opensourceworldconference.com/ in Málaga - Spain. From
the 20th you will be able to buy it at http://www.librosdelinux.com/ ,
most bookshops of Andalusia and the major/specialised ones in the rest
of Spain.

The book offers an overview on both conceptual and practical aspects of
free software day to day use. It is devoted to newcomers and regular
users but it is not just a technical guide. The aim is to bring users to
a stage in which they feel like normal free software users,
understanding what is going on, what they can do and where can they go
to find support in case of trouble. Like many people (as myself)
subscribed to this list.

All this without opening a terminal, only the chapter about setting your
home-made Internet server goes beyond that line. It also covers other
aspects relating to free software like the open content stuff,
introduction to some core projects relating to the distro (GNU, Linux,
Debian, Ubuntu, GNOME...), where to start contributing, etc.

The book is in fact an exercise of Deriving Ubuntu documentation as
deriving Ubuntu-based distributions -
http://www.desdeamericaconamor.org/blog/node/154 . Most part of this
book is fully applicable to Ubuntu Breezy users. I'm currently
considering the possibility of going ahead with another book based on a
new version of this source text adapted to Dapper.
