<shrug>  Maybe go into Synaptic, mark w32codecs for complete removal,
apply and then reinstall it and see if that fixes things?

Did you save the video file first or were you streaming it?

Did you try Mplayer? (Vincent Trouilliez reported that Totem and VLC
didn't work, but Mplayer did)  BTW, it plays fine in gXine for me...
does it for you?
