Actually, I think lots of mainstream users are using Picasa and iPhoto 
now.  I've actually moved our photo-management to the HTPC we have 
(running Windows, for games/picasa/video) because there really isn't 
much like picasa in the Linux world.  f-spot is nice, but not the same.

Picasa has enough editing tools to keep most people happy, I think.
