There's an aspect to this that people seem not to appreciate. Each time
there's a release, the pundits go nuts saying what a lousy name has been
picked. This generates a lot of noise, and gets noticed.

Sometimes controversial naming can be a plus. ;-)

"Huh - Ubuntu have done it again! Edgy Eft ? What were they thinking?" 

And so on, on page after page, Slashdot comment after Slashdot comment ...

There may be method in Mark's madness ;-)
