Personally, it works for me - but except for the fact that I run large
database servers on a small laptop, I don't really put much load on it. 
So, ymmv.

You can't have it both ways :-)  Many people go with the "light on features"
window managers, because they love the speed.  KDE may have features that
few people need, but nobody can agree which ones aren't needed!
