Perhaps su could print a message like:
If you do not know the root password, or the root account is disabled
(It is disabled by default on Ubuntu), you can still do system
administration with sudo. For example,
sudo command-that-needs-root-access
This will only require your own password, unless you do not have sudo
privileges.
