Hi everybody,
In exactly one hour, at 19h30 EST, we will begin the semester for the
course "Logiciels Libres et Société". This course, part of the official
cursus of the MIS departement at Université Laval, was put together by
Daniel Pascot, director of said MIS department, to explain to the
University community the Free software movement.
This course will be interesting at many. First, students are invited,
er, /strongly encouraged/, to actively make use of Free software. My
LUG (www.linuq.org) is working in partnership with M. Pascot to provide
support to the students in their experimentation. Workshop and
InstallFest are in the making for September.
The course, in the spirit of Free and Open-Source software, will be
available to the public at large. A live Ogg stream of the course will
be playing at http://loli.fsa.ulaval.ca. In French, je doit dire ...
What does it have to do with Ubuntu ? Well, not much to be honest. But
I feel the urge to share my enthusiam for the project with other
activist. Come on, they are teaching Free software at the University,
that must *mean* something !
Bien sûr, I bring two box of CD from ShipIt to distribute at the door
:)
Cheers,
Etienne Goyer
